KickLog Privacy Policy
KickLog records football matches with Apple Watch and shows the analysis on iPhone. Our approach is simple: your data is yours, and it stays on your own devices and in your own iCloud.
This policy is available in English and Chinese. If you use KickLog in another language, the English version applies.
In short
- No sign-up, no account. Just open the app and play.
- We run no servers of our own. Your matches are never sent to us, and we can't see them.
- No ads, no tracking, no selling data. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting tools.
- Heart rate and other health data stay on your iPhone. They are never uploaded to any cloud, not even your own iCloud.
- Sync goes only to your own iCloud. It goes only to your own private iCloud space, which only your Apple Account can open. You can turn iCloud sync off any time in Settings.
- The app only goes online to use Apple services, such as iCloud, Apple Maps, and Apple Weather.
1. Data KickLog uses
Match data
During a match, Apple Watch records your route and position, distance, speed, sprints, steps, and heart rate, plus the key moments you mark on the Watch (such as a goal or an assist) and where you were on the pitch when you marked them. When the match ends, the Watch sends it straight to your iPhone.
Data from Health
Only after you allow it in the system prompt, KickLog reads data such as heart rate, energy, distance, age, sex, and weight from Health to calculate match stats, calories, and ratings. You can also import past Soccer workouts from Health. Each match is saved to Health as a Soccer workout. Data read from Health is never used for advertising or marketing and is never shared with third parties.
Profile and settings
Your nickname, avatar, usual playing position, and app settings such as units and theme.
Your saved pitches
Pitch names, locations, and pitch boundaries.
iPhone location
Used to recognize which pitch you're at and show satellite maps around it, and, if you turn weather on, to check the local weather. KickLog uses location in the background only if you turn on Arrival reminders, to check whether you've arrived at a pitch. That check happens on your iPhone.
Photos
Used only to save the share images you create. A photo you pick as a background is used only on your iPhone to draw the image and is never uploaded. Share images leave your iPhone only when you save or share them yourself.
KickLog Pro purchases
Payment is handled by Apple. We never receive your payment details.
2. Where your data is stored
On your devices
Your data is stored on your iPhone and Apple Watch.
In your own iCloud, when iCloud sync is on
With iCloud sync on, some data syncs to your own private iCloud space so you can get it back on a new phone or after reinstalling. Only your iPhone does the syncing, and we cannot access this content.
- What syncs: match records (times, running, speed, sprints, key moments, and the route recorded by your Watch), your saved pitches, nickname, avatar, playing position, some settings (such as units, theme, sprint threshold, and which in-match alerts are on), and your achievement unlocks.
- What never syncs and stays on your iPhone: heart rate, calories, ratings (ratings use heart rate), and your age, weight, sex, and resting heart rate. For matches imported from other apps, the route and running data also stay on your iPhone. On a new phone, these are read back from Health.
- If you turn iCloud sync off, nothing new is uploaded. What is already in iCloud stays there until you delete it (see section 4).
In backup files you export yourself
You can export a backup that includes your matches (with heart rate and ratings), profile, pitches, and achievements. You decide where to save it. KickLog can tell if a backup file was changed outside the app, but the file has no password: anyone who has it can read it, so keep it safe.
In your iPhone's own backup
If you back up your iPhone with iCloud Backup or to a computer, KickLog's data on the phone is included. That backup is handled by Apple.
3. When KickLog goes online
KickLog does not connect to any server run by us or by a third party. It only uses these Apple services:
- iCloud: only while iCloud sync is on. You can turn iCloud sync off any time in Settings.
- Weather (off by default): if you turn it on in Settings, KickLog sends a rough location (rounded to about 1 km) and the match time to Apple Weather to show the weather in your match report. Your route and precise location are never sent. Weather results are kept only briefly. When your iPhone's location is used for the weather, that rough location is saved with the match.
- Maps: satellite maps of a pitch are loaded from Apple Maps, so Apple learns the approximate area shown on the map.
- External links, such as this page and the feedback email, open only when you tap them.
These Apple services are covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. Deleting your data
- Delete a match in the app. With iCloud sync on, it is also deleted from your iCloud. For matches KickLog recorded, you can also choose to delete the matching workout from Health.
- Delete KickLog's data in iCloud in iPhone Settings > your name > iCloud > Manage Account Storage.
- Deleting the app removes KickLog's data from your iPhone, but not KickLog's data in your iCloud.
- Workouts saved to Health can be deleted in the Health app.
5. Children
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Changes and contact
If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date on this page and let you know in the app. Questions? Email [email protected].
